Two things for you to do before our next meet up on Wednesday in 2 parts.
📚 Beginner's Word Deep Dive Guide
Do a deep dive on 2 of the following words.
Blessed
Chosen
Adoption
Redemption
Inheritance
Grace
Mystery
Seal
Glory
Power
Here is how to do that:
✅ Step 1: Find the Original Word
Use a Bible app or website like:
Search the verse, click on the word, and it will show:
Original Greek word
Strong’s Concordance number
Pronunciation + Transliteration
✅ Step 2: Understand the Meaning
Write down the following:
Definition – What does the original word mean?
Root Word – Where does the word come from?
Other Uses in the Bible – Where else is it found? (look for context)
Word Type – Is it a noun, verb, adjective, etc.?
Bonus:
Look for any cultural or historical meanings.
Check if Jesus used this word or if it’s used in the Old Testament (Greek Septuagint or Hebrew).
✅ Step 3: Reflection Questions
What does this word reveal about God’s character or plan?
How does this word show up in Ephesians 1’s message?
How does this deepen my understanding of my faith or identity in Christ?
Can I find a promise, command, or truth connected to this word?
How would I explain this word in one sentence to a friend?
Choose one to do from these:
1. “Identity in Christ” Mirror Exercise
Goal: Help learners discover who God says we are.
How to do it:
Read through Ephesians 1 and write down every phrase that describes what God has done for you or says about you (e.g., “chosen,” “redeemed,” “forgiven,” “sealed”).
Write each on a sticky note or index card.
Say outloud: “I am [insert word] because God…”
Optional: Tape the words on a mirror to declare daily
2. “Blessing Inventory” Treasure Hunt
Goal: Spot the spiritual blessings listed in verses 3–14.
How to do it:
Hunt for and list all the blessings mentioned.
Example: "Blessed us," "chose us," "adopted us," "forgiven us," "gave us the Spirit," etc.
Then ask:
Which of these blessings do you find most comforting?
Which do you want to understand more deeply?
3. “Letter from God” Rewrite Exercise
Goal: Personalize the text to see how God’s message applies to you.
How to do it:
Rewrite Ephesians 1:3–14 in first person, like God is speaking directly to you.
E.g., “I have blessed you with every spiritual blessing… I chose you before the foundation of the world... I sealed you with My Spirit...”
Read it aloud slowly and reflect on how it makes you feel.
4. “Then vs. Now” Timeline Reflection
Goal: See your life story through the lens of Ephesians 1.
How to do it:
Create a 2-column sheet: Before Christ | In Christ (Ephesians 1 truths)
Reflect on how your understanding of identity has shifted.
Ask:
How did you view yourself before knowing these truths?
Which Ephesians 1 truth is reshaping how you live right now?
5. Lectio Divina (Divine Reading) for Ephesians 1:17–18
Goal: Slow, meditative reading of Paul’s prayer.
Steps:
Read the verses aloud slowly.
Pause and reflect…. what word stands out?
Read again and ask: What might God be saying to me?
Read a third time and respond with a personal prayer.
Journal or share one insight.
