Prayer for Receiving the Baptism of the Holy Spirit

Father God,
I come to You in the name of Jesus Christ.
Your Word says that You give the Holy Spirit to those who ask.
You are faithful, and You do not withhold good gifts from Your children.

Lord Jesus,
You promised the baptism of the Holy Spirit and power.
You commanded believers to receive the Promise of the Father.
I believe Your Word, and I obey it now.

Father,
I repent of any known sin.
I yield my heart, my will, my mind, and my body fully to You.
I surrender control. I surrender fear. I surrender pride.
I choose obedience.

According to Your Word,
I ask now: Fill me with the Holy Spirit.
Baptize me with the Holy Spirit and fire.
Clothe me with power from on high.
Let the Spirit of God come upon me as You have promised.

Holy Spirit,
I receive You now.
I welcome You.
I submit to Your leading.
I will not resist You.
I will not grieve You.
I will not quench You.

I believe that I receive, not by feeling, not by striving,
but by faith in the Word of God.

Let rivers of living water flow from my innermost being.
Empower me to walk in holiness.
Empower me to obey.
Empower me to be a witness for Christ.

I thank You now, Father,
that You are faithful to Your promise.
I receive the baptism of the Holy Spirit now,
in Jesus’ name.
Amen.

After You Pray

Do not try to manufacture anything.
It is not our job to do anything but wait in FAITH.
Do not analyze.
Do not force words.

Remain yielded.
If the Spirit prompts you to speak, worship, pray, or speak in a language you did not learn, follow the prompt (lead of the Holy Spirit).
The Holy Spirit leads; we respond.
